Wedding content creators have altered the wedding industry forever. Many wedding trends have come and gone, but these creators are here to stay. They are a wedding vendor that became extremely popular by the end of 2023 and are forecasted to explode in 2025 and beyond, especially amongst Gen Z. Wedding content creators arose out of need, as do most businesses rise out of an identified need.
What were those needs exactly and what are the pros and cons of wedding content creators?
What are Wedding Content Creators?
There was something missing in the wedding industry. I remember in 2020 when Instagram announced that it was no longer considered to be a photo sharing platform and photographers, including me, thought this was the end of Instagram. But look how fun the social media app is now. Reels, which were largely criticized at the beginning, soon became a huge hit. It was more engaging, more personal, relatable, and humorous than the traditional static image. More wedding content is being produced than ever before because of the push for video across platforms like TikTok and now Instagram, just a short few years ago. Brides were not only wanting to share their wedding planning experiences, but also their actual wedding day. For a time, this job had no designated person. It would be handed to a bridesmaid, a friend, or other content creator to handle. A push for guests to capture the wedding day has also been a thing. Content creators recognized the need for a person to document weddings and thus wedding content creators were created This important duty now has a person to call home.

Benefits of Hiring a Wedding Content Creator
Let’s start with the pros of hiring a wedding content creator. There are many benefits to having one. You don’t have to be an influencer to want the best behind-the-scenes video of the best day of your life. Let’s get into it.
Elevated Guest Experience
If you want an unplugged wedding, one of the best pros of wedding content creators is that they elevate the guest experience. Many brides request unplugged ceremonies, but this has extended to the entire day in recent years. An unplugged wedding is a time where guests are requested by the bride and groom to refrain from using electronic devices - like phones, personal cameras, or ipads. This request was typically for preventing guests from taking photos or recording videos, during the ceremony and instead, encouraging them to be fully present without being distracting. But this has also extended to the entirety of the wedding.
Wedding content creators can facilitate the goal of an unplugged wedding by professionally managing the short-form, sharable content. They allow guests to focus on the moment while ensuring memories are captured and shared later in a polished, thoughtful way. Guests leave feeling part of something memorable without the need for their own documentation. Depending on the vision of the bride and groom, many wedding content creators engage with guests creatively. Overall, wedding content creators enhance the guest experience and help promote the concept of an unplugged wedding.
Promotes a Phone-free Atmosphere
Never again should content creation come at the hand of a bridesmaid or friend. Like the concept of an unplugged wedding, a wedding content creator can help promote a phone-free atmosphere, especially in the hours leading up to the ceremony. I’ve seen a minor trend forming where the job of content creator get’s included in the bridesmaid’s title. This is a big red flag to me. It’s one thing to assign bridesmaids wedding day tasks, which usually come and go, like bathroom buddy, but assigning them to document moments is an all-day thing. That’s not only distracting, but also puts a lot of pressure on a bridesmaid. It could also make them feel left out if they are always the one behind the camera and on a phone. This is one of the best benefits of hiring a wedding content creator. By taking over this job, your wedding party can enjoy getting ready at peace.
Affordability
I would argue that wedding content creators are one of the most budget-friendly wedding vendors. But they have also been questioned as an unnecessary expense. After all, they only take video on a silly little phone of a bride and groom enjoying their wedding day. Like any other vendor, you invest in that company’s or individual’s skill and expertise. Wedding content creators have so many benefits, and their affordability is just one. With so many emerging wedding content creators, you will find a variety of creators that fit your budget, ranging anywhere from $600 to $5,000. When you hire a content creator for your wedding day, you are investing in years’ worth of memories and their skills in documenting and crafting visually appealing video of your wedding. That leads me to my next point, memories.
Enhanced Social Media Experience
If this isn't already a given, wedding content creators elevate the social experience by capturing raw, unedited, short-form wedding content. If social media is important to you, you may want to consider involving a wedding content creator on your wedding day. You don't have to be an influencer to want the best behind-the-scenes video of your wedding day. We most often watch videos taken by smartphone cameras. Seeing yourself through this lens can be comforting and might bring out more authenticity than through other video experiences. This elevated social experience makes hiring a wedding content creator worth it.
Creativity
Wedding content creators are highly creative individuals and can add even more fun to your wedding day. If you love social media and want to do a trend, wedding content creators are all about that. They can be as non conspicuous or as bold as you would like. Wedding content creators capture you in your element and looking back on these videos is one of the best parts of having a wcc present. That brings us to the last pro about hiring a wedding content creator.
Early Access to Memories
Lastly, the best part about having a wedding content creator is getting all your videos the next day. Compared to the average photographer and videographer wait time, content creators are social media whizzes with fast turnaround times, delivering memories instantaneously. Wedding content creators have an average of 24 to 48 hour delivery policies, so you can start sharing and reliving the best day of your life almost instantly! This is one of the greatest advantages of hiring them.
Wedding Content Creator Downsides
I’ve focused solely on the benefits of wedding content creators from the couple’s point of view. They are after all the ones calling the shots. And I will finish with their downsides from the same point of view and no one else's!
Additional Cost
Weddings are an expensive affair. The average cost of a wedding in 2023 according to the latest data from The Knot Real Weddings’ Study, an annual research study conducted by the Knot, was $35,000. This is a $5,000 increase from the 2022 average. Of course, there are a variety of factors that affect one’s overall wedding expenses such as the amount of vendors hired, guest count, style, etc. The study continues that couples on average hire fourteen vendors (The Knot, 2024). I’ve made a fourteen-vendor mockup list below:
Venue
Photographer
Wedding content creator
Videographer
Wedding dress
Catering
Dessert
Bartending
Florist
Hair and makeup
Wedding planner
Suit rentals
Transportation
Specialty rentals
Vendor booking is entirely based on your values. Not all weddings do alcohol. Not every couple needs a venue. Backyard and tent weddings are very trendy right now! Each wedding is unique and how much you value A or B’s services dictates the cost of your wedding at the end of the night. Take my own wedding for example. I am not a fan of the traditional long-form wedding video, but that’s not to say I don’t think it is a beautiful form of art. They just aren’t for me, which is why I went with something more relatable like a wedding content creator. I also didn’t need transportation and I didn’t hire out any especially rentals. Weddings can be expensive celebrations and no wedding vendor comes with no cost. It all depends on what you deem as invaluable to your wedding day.

Scarcity
Wedding content creators are fairly new to the wedding industry and finding a wedding content creator near you can be a struggle if you don’t know where to start. Another drawback is that your area may not have one as close as you would like. How do you find a wedding content creator?
How to Find a Wedding Content Creator
You could start on a search engine and search for wedding content creator near me. When I was searching for my wcc, I searched on Google for a Minnesota wedding content creator near me. If your search engine isn’t meeting your expectations, hop on TikTok or Instagram. From personal experience, it’s much easier to find content creators for your wedding on TikTok than it is on Instagram or through search engines. Use hashtags like #weddingcontentcreator or insert your state in some fashion into a hashtag (Example: #mncontentcreator). There are directories out there too that you can search on if that is more your style.
Service Overlap
Some couples worry that a content creator's role overlaps with that of the videographer or photographer, creating redundancy. Content creators are not for everyone, but they are a vendor just like any other vendor with unique capabilities and talents. There is a distinct difference between wedding content creators and photographers and videographers. Wedding content creators capture the raw, unedited, short-form side of weddings, providing a different perspective than other vendors.

Privacy Concerns
If you are going to a wedding, there is a high chance that you will be caught in the background of a photo or video. This is kind of what is expected at a wedding and a risk one takes in attending. Still, many may feel like their privacy is invaded whether its the wedding content creator, the videographer, or the photographer taking the shots.
Should You Hire One?
Couples should weigh the benefits of having sharable, curated content on the wedding day against potential costs or conflicts. A content creator is often most valuable for couples who prioritize social media content or want an enhanced guest experience while maintaining an unplugged ceremony.
